Everyone’s a Toad!
Toad’s your main host for this Mario Party, and what he lacks in stature, he makes up for in pure party spirit!
Bowser’s forces have stolen a stack of Stars, and it’s up to a small group of Toads to get them back. As a Toad, compete with other players to collect coins and Stars while roaming around the board. The one with the most Stars at the end of the game wins!
Party planner
Each turn, roll the dice and work out the best way forward. Everybody moves at once, so keep an eye on other players’ positions and try to guess where they’ll go. Watch out: another player might swipe coins right from under your nose by racing over the spaces first!
Minigame madness
Pop a Coin Balloon and you’ll set off a minigame – and get a lovely coin bonus! Minigames might challenge your mind or your reactions. Win a minigame and you’ll get even more coins as a prize!
Friendly faces
Other characters from the Mushroom Kingdom often appear on the board, too. Meet up with them and they’ll join you as an ally, helping you out with an extra dice roll each round. You can recruit up to four allies at a time, so put together a party to get even more out of each go.
Land on the same space as another player and you’ll take part in an Ally Duel, where the player who gets the winning number can recruit an ally from their opponent. Keep your distance!
If you tap in a compatible amiibo (sold separately) at the start of the game, you’ll be joined by an ally from the beginning, and they’ll bring a special Dice Block along with them too!
Star power
There are two ways to get Stars. First up, every 10 coins you collect will be swapped for a Star at the end of the game. The second way? That’s tougher – you’ll have to square up to big bad guys in Boss Battles and come away with the most points!
In Boss Battles, all players work together to defeat the foe – while competing with each other, of course! If you reach the boss first, you’ll start the minigame while the other players rush to catch up, giving you a few extra seconds to score precious points. If you have allies, they’ll also join the game and lend a helping hand.
Party’s over
After a certain number of Boss Battles, the game ends and the coins are counted up to see how many Stars everybody gets. But it’s not over until it’s over! The tables might turn even during the judging: you might be awarded bonus coins for doing well in minigames, moving the fewest number of spaces, and more.
Once a winner is declared, they’ll be treated to a spectacular shower of shooting Stars: a Star Rush! So pretty…
